The Watch

The Watch .... Lazy writing or .... Nope, just lazy writing.
With a all star cast including our very own Richard Ayoade I expected this to be a very good film. I didn't know much about the film in general just that it was about a guy who gets neighbourhood watch together, I didn't know why or how but thats all I knew.
When this film first started I had gone in with a open mind because I had read reviews on this and let me tell you, there were NOT good, not good at all, but I digress.

When the film started I sat there thinking 'ok, sure I can do this! It's just like any other Ben Stiller Movie' always the guy wanting to make a difference, he starts all these clubs, he's nice to everyone and everyone loves him' ok great, the opening scene fine, and then he goes home and we find out his wife and himself can't conceive a baby which is fine.

The thing that got me most about this film was the amount of sexual references in this film, I'm not a pude, far from it, but I think, when I sit down to watch a film there there should be a certain amount of sexual stuff in there, it was all they spoke about, even when they were speaking about the aliens, (which this film is really about and totally got me), it was still based around sex, there were times when I was sitting there wondering what the hell I was doing! It felt to me like the writers had given up. Now for somewhere like Boston, (lets take Ted for example) swearing all the time and some slight sexual innuendoes are fine because it would happen but for people who are living in the suburbs, living in a nice part of town, speech like this wouldn't happen.

I have put this picture up here for a reason! The Neighbourhood watch team were driving and hit something, just so happens to be outside some creepy old farmers house who comes out screaming and ranting, again with the swearing. So this is pretty much when you find out about the aliens, and theres this ball thing, I'm still unsure of what it is but I know it's used for the end of the film. To activate it you have to put your fingers in the holes ..... que more sex jokes.

This is a short review because I don't feel that I should be spending my time writing about it when the writers couldn't be bothered to write a script! Ben Still, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade are great actors, they do comedy at its best but this film was more of a swearing/sex showcase for them.

This film has the opportunity to be something fantastic, something amazing but instead they've turned it into a listening porn movie. I thank god I did not see this at the cinema but payed £2.99 from on demand, even that was too much.

I'm not telling you not to watch this film, because the ending is very good and it does have somewhat of a twist 3/4's in, I'm just saying, if you can watch it for free, do it! And drink while you watch it!

1/5 I'm giving this film. Not good boys. Not good!

21 Jump Street

I watched this film last night for the third time, (I know right? I should have watched it more.) I don't think I will get bored of it, it doesn't fail to bring the jokes from start to finish. When it first came out I was worried about it, mostly because .... and any Johnny Depp fan would know, it carries on with the concept of 21 jump street, Johnny Depp's first acting gig. The other reason being Channing Tatum, now as much as I rate him as an actor, I didn't know if he would be able to bring the comedy next to heavy weight Jonah Hill, but he held his own. Channing was every bit of the actor I know him to be, I love that as he's known for such serious film or action films, he was able to adapt to the comedy role so easily and casually, not once did I sit there and think; Oh wow this guy is awkward acting, (because belive me that happens!)

"Did you just say you have the right to be an attorney?"
"Well .. you do have the right to be an attorney if you so wish"

Well Jonah Hill's not lying, I mean you do, you can be anything you wish to be. I do like this scene, this film plays out the american stereotype perfectly with Channing being the handsome tall jock dumb guy and Jonah being the smart small weird looking geek guy. I think I love this film because when they do go back to high school, times have changed, Channing is no longer the popular guy with his good looks and muscles, instead it's the eco warriors, vegetarians who seems to be ruling the school. At one point during the film when they walk into the cafeteria, Channing actually says to Jonah; "It's not right, these geeks should not be popular, know know who I blame? Glee!" Ok so that's not the exact quote but it's close enough and you get the point of it. Bottom line Channing's character is right! Glee is to blame but that's fabulous because it's given the underdog a chance to rise up and claim what is rightfully theirs.

This bit is defiantly the funniest bit in the movie, they're on drugs and talking to the football coach, the acting in this scene is so well done although I can't help but wonder how many take this actually took them before the stopped laughing at them self's. I must admit I was surprised at Channing in this scene, if you had read this blog from the start and not just looked at the pictures, you would know that I didn't really see Channing as a comedy actor but his acting in this scene had me laughing so hard that I actually spat the wine I was drinking out of my mouth.

Now, I hate drugs, I think they're the worst thing ever! They make smart people stupid and stupid people dead ... but this drug? This has to be the coolest drug ever, if taken over once of course! If you think about though this drug is pretty much like any teenagers friday night with vodka .... maybe just stick to the vodka and diet coke! Might be a bit safer! Other you'll find yourself doing this with your best friend:

Not nice!

Now I know this wasn't just me here, but near the end of the film when Channing and Jonah got out of the limo with the cool geeks and he let of those doves you all thought: "GO KICK ARSE!" because of what had perviously happened you wanted them to win you wanted them to get the bad guys and most of all you were happy that the bromance these two had struck up was back together again! Because you have to have a bromance in a film like this and theirs was the cutest.
In high school Channing wouldn't give Jonah the time of day but in the police academy they used each others strengths, they worked together to form a team, a team that in the end would never be defeated.

This film is for everyone, people who want to laugh, who want to cry, (when you think the bromance is over) and who most importantly ... want to see Johnny Depp in all his sexiness. This film brought the laughs from start to finish and it didn't fail to disappoint and it put my concern to shame.

10/10 for this film and I can't wait to see it again and I'm praying they do another one .... Well if the ending of this film is anything to go by:

I wont have to wait long.

It was when I looked up from my desk at work and looked to my computer screen with tweets about fashion and god knows what else that I decided to make this blog. I figured ... hey! If they can do it why can't I? I have plenty to say about films and Tv and pretty much anything I like because this is my blog. I might even throw in some photography in there too, (just because I can and it's my favourite thing to do!)

So I guess the thing you should know about me is I like to write. Alot. I actually have a 'book' going on at the moment, it's called the FBI files, I love photography and i especially love Films and Tv, it may be possible I watch way to much, honestly though? I blame Sidereel for that! It keeps showing me new amazing shows to watch, and then as for films? Not only is the cinema one of my favourite places to be, I love sitting there watching other people's life unravel in front of my eyes instead of the drama that seems to come and go from my life, but I also blame This site for the film issue I have! Also ... not that I'm compaining, but HMV do some major fabulous deals on films. £10 for the newest films? Amazing! Enough said!

This blog is about me and what I do, who I am, who I know, and what's new in my life ... It's that awesome I need to blog about about! =D

I don't plan to disappoint so please keep coming back to me for any updates. If you have anything you want me to post or even add to this I will welcome everything, please feel free to message me here.

Enjoy
